Title:Cascade Head Preserve
Area:Tillamook County
Elevation:10 - 1200 Feet
Elevation_Gain:1190
Trail:Lower Cascade Head Preserve Trail
Misc:This preserve has a wonderful trail that can be hiked any time of year. Although the trail is short in distance, because of the elevation gain it makes for a good workout. You will also find lots to enjoy if you only hike a short distance on the trail. A new trailhead has been built at Knight County Park, making it no longer necessary to hike on the road for the first part of the hike. Make sure to stop and read all the good information on The Nature Conservancy's signs as you hike along. Also stop to marvel at the ancient Sitka Spruce trees and the take lots of time to enjoy the tremendous view across the Salmon River estuary. Another alternative is to hike from the Upper Trail. However, take note that the access road is closed from Jan 1 through July 15

It is a part of the Oregon Coast Trail and can be hiked north to south or south to north with a distance of 6.0 miles. The southern trailhead is located on Three Rocks Road just after turning off of Highway 101. The northern trailhead is located 1.7 miles south of Neskowin off of Highway 101.
Route:From Lincoln City drive north on 101. After crossing the Salmon River turn west on Three Rocks Road. At 2 miles, take the left fork and park in Knight Park. The Nature Conservancy's Trailhead is at the NE corner of the parking lot.
