Location  Sutton Trails Hike

Where:  Siuslaw National Forest

Today's hike was a very interesting hike in which we combined a number of different elements. We knew we wanted to get in a hike, we knew we needed to shop for groceries, and we would also like to get out of the heat. With all these factors in mind, we picked hiking at the coast on the Sutton Trails close to Florence where we could get in our shopping.

We have hiked on the Sutton Trails a number of times, and normally have started from the western end for the Holman Vista Day Use Parking Lot. Today, for something different we started at the east end at the Sutton Lake Boat Launch. From the parking lot the trail ducks under the Highway 101 Bridge and follows along Sutton Creek. Because we are really in the RV mode right now, we hiked through all four loops of the Sutton Campground and made a survey of all the campsites, noting which ones had electricity.

After the hike, we had lunch and did our shopping at Fred Meyer. Jeanette even managed to squeeze in a pedicure in honor of her upcoming birthday. In all we had a cool successful day.
