Location  Row River Trail Bike

Where:  Cottage Grove, Oregon

A week ago we made plans with our friend Eddie Harrod to get together in Cottage Grove, where he now lives, for an outing. On Friday night the weather forecast for Saturday was for cooler tempatures and morning fog, so we decided on an afternoon bike ride on the Row River Trail.

Our original plan was for a hike, but due to continuing knee pain on my part I suggest a bike ride instead. Jeanette and I just purchased a pair of folding bikes that needed testing, and cycling is less painful on the knee, and in fact seems to be good for the knee.

The idea on the folding bikes is to have bikes that we can easily take along in our motor home. They are inexpensive six speed bikes that we bought at Camping Word, -- two for $299. They are not bikes for the serious cyclist, concerned about distance and speed, but seem to be perfect for putting around town and riding on bike paths. Because they fold up so compactly we can easily take them along inside our little Scion Xa.

Our afternoon timing seemed perfect, as we had bright sunshine. As always, we also enjoyed the Row River Trail. We ended up with 14 miles, which seemed just right for a leisurely ride. Coffee and cookies followed at the Harrod house.
