Date: July 21, 2008 | Location Buck, Elkhorn, & Billy Lakes Stocking | Where: Oregon Cascades | The bulk of the rainbow trout raised at Roaring River Hatchery are trucked off by Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife in big trucks to ponds and reservoirs in the Willamette Valley and the Cascades. There are however a few small ponds and lakes close by in the foothills of the Cascades, on private and federal lands, that Roaring River Hatchery stocks itself. I was fortunate enough this summer in my volunteer position at Roaring River Hatchery to be able to go along on these stocking trips.
