Location  Eel Lake Trail Hike

Where:  William Tugman State Park

Jeanette and I volunteered to lead this hike on the Eel Lake Trail at Tugman State Park for the Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club because no one had heard of it. It's a trail that is not to be found in any hiking guides, and there are no trail signs to give you any idea of where it begins.

ripe salmon berries were everywhere

The trail, carved through a thick forest of trees, lush underbrush and ferns, follows the contour of Eel Lake past several small bays within the boundary of Tugman State Park. We were thirteen in all and enjoy a perfect day on this scenic trail.
