Location Cape Perpetua Hike |
Where: Siuslaw National Forest |
Our goal for the day was to hike the St Perpetua Trail at the Cap Perpetua Scenic Area on the Oregon Coast. Although we found the Visitors Center closed for the season, the parking lot there still makes for a good place to begin this hike.

Jeanette, Bev, Ron & Jim at the Vistors Center The St Perpetua Trail first took us down along Cape Creek and then through the campground before it began its many switchbacks up the side of the cape. The size and number of the giant old Sitka Spruce trees along the trail were a magnificent site.

Bev, Ron & Jeanette on the St Perpetua Trail At the top we hiked on over to the stone shelter build by the Civil Conservation Corp in the 1930s and then used as a submarine lookout during World War II.
