4th of July "fireless" campfire Our last camp is made at the junction of Winom Creek and Big Creek, 1. 5 miles from the river. Here Uncle Jeff successfully catches trout for dinner, as does Cousin Meri under the tutelage of Uncle Mark.
Cousin Matthew Scott, age 11, writes of the day --- "On the 4th. of July we hiked the longest of all the days of hiking, 6 1/2 miles. While we were having a break my dad gave out snickers, they were good. When we got to our campsite, my dad and I went fishing on the river. I slipped off a rock and got wet and miserable. Then I went back to camp. My cousin Merri, caught all the fish and I didn't catch anything. It was not fair. Then we went to bed. That is all that happened that day."
