Date: March 31, 2002 | Location Easter Hike | Where: Catherine Creek, Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area | Jeanette and I were anxious to show friends, Tim & Elaine, the beauty of the wild flower display of the Catherine Creek area in the Columbia River Gorge. On this trip we found the Grass Widows past their prime, but the Star Flowers were still going strong and mixed with them were Western Saxifrage. In grassy areas we saw False Agoseris and Western Buttercup, and up among the protection of the oaks we found Glacier Lilies.

| | the "arch" at Catherine Creek We found the wind bitter cold on the upper grassy hillsides and soon sought shelter in the oak filled draws. Here in the sun and low to the ground we found the temperature quite comfortable.
