This was a Chemeketan Backpack that began by car-pooling at our house, leaving Salem close to 8:00, stopping for coffee and restrooms at Detroit, and arriving at the Head of the Metolius at 10:30. We walked down and took a look at the spring, then back to the cars and loaded up our packs.

We arrived at Camp Sherman Store a little before noon and had lunch of deli sandwiches on the deck. Then an easy wander on down the river to Pine Rest Campground where we set up at site #4 next to the cooking shelter.

It's a long afternoon and a little cool, so we end up with all our layers on. Most spent the time in camp with table games, I spent the afternoon taking photos, among which were Serviceberry and Wild Strawberry . At the campsite we saw an Osprey as well as a White-headed Woodpecker.
