|Location West Eagle Loop Backpack - Day 2|
|Where: West Eagle Creek to Traverse Lake|

Day 2 we were on the trail by 7:20 and glad to be ahead of the sun as we switch-backed up 1700 ft to Echo Lake. We plopped down on a slap of granite to catch our breath and take in the magnificent scenery. Fortified by some lunch we attached the next mile and a half and 200 ft of climb to Traverse Lake.

We found a good camping area next to the outlet. Telltale circles on the lakes surface signaled to me that fish are feeding. Jeanette agreed to set up camp while I strung up my fly rod and start catching dinner! A group of 8 backpackers come past our campsite. They were the only people we would see on the entire 7 day loop.
