Lewis's Woodpecker can most often be seen flying 'crow like' from tree to tree where it perches in search of flying insects. Ornithologist Alexander Wilson named this woodpecker in honor of Meriwether Lewis, it's discoverer during the Lewis & Clark Expedition.
