Crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, channel catfish, Florida bluegill and green sunfish are the major game fish. A valid State of California fishing license is required.

There are two campgrounds, Buckhorn, and Orland Buttes, with a combined 100 sites. There are no hook-ups. Only Buckhorn Campground is open year around. Fishing and boating are popular here and new hiking trails are being developed. Wildflowers are abundant here in Spring. Birding is good year around.
