Notes:Diamond Lake is a fantastic destination for year around recreation, from fishing in the summer, to cross-country skiing in the winter. Historically the lake has been a great fishery for rainbow trout, but in current times it has been plagued by an over population of tui chub. Efforts have been made by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to remove the chub which involved lowering the lake level in 2006 and treating with rotenone, a naturally-derived pesticide to rid the lake of an estimated 98 million tui chub. The lake has been restocked starting in 2007 and rainbow trout are doing well.
Route:From Roseburg, travel 80 miles east on Highway 138 up the North Umpqua River
