Location  Thistle Ridge Hike

Where:  North Bank Habitat Management Area

With one more good day of weather in the forecast, and a desire to get in a good hike, the North Bank Habitat Management Area just East of Wilbur came to mind as a good place to spend the day. Because of its primary exposure to the south, I picked the Thistle Ridge Trail to take full advantage of the sunshine.

It is really too early for the wildflowers in the area, but we did get to see some bright yellow Western Buttercups, and pale pink Filaree.

I usually see lots of wildlife on these open hillsides, but today, checking with binoculars revealed stumps that were not turkeys, logs that were not elk, bushes that were not deer, and rocks that were not bears.

We were back to the car, and just barely seated, when the first raindrops hit the windshield. We felt we had gotten the best out of the day. For some unexplainable reason the GPS showed 17 miles for our loop. I know from previous trips it was in actuality closer to 6 miles.
