Bill Geibel's hike to Craig Lake was too much of a temptation for me, so I took a day off of packing for my up coming move to hike. We left a shuttle car at Lost Lake and started the hike from the parking lot at the old Santiam Lodge, taking the Santiam Lodge Trail up to the Skyline Trail.

| Bill and Beargrass The B & B Complex Fire of 2003 has left the area more open and the Beargrass is thriving. After a difficult scramble up to Craig Lake we were rewarded with great views of Craig Lake and Three Fingered Jack.

| lunch at Craig Lake On our route back, Bill led us cross country down to Lost Lake, which included a section of the Hogg railroad bed built in the late 1880s.
