Location Hemlock Creek Trail Hike |
Where: Umpqua National Forest |
I stumbled on this trail, in a manner of speaking, a few days ago while looking closely at a map for a fishing trip to Hemlock Lake. Hemlock Creek Trail is basically a four-mile trail that connects Hemlock Lake down to Lake in the Woods.

Jeanette & Buster at the trailhead We started at Lake in the Woods and hiked up to Hemlock Lake. The trail has been well maintained and took us over a number of bridges and through the grotto-like Hemlock Creek canyon with wonderful vistas of water falls.

Jim on one of the bridges over Hemlock Creek Hemlock Lake proved a perfect destination for lunch. We sat in the warm sunshine and watched a couple fishing from a paddleboat. Small trout took insects along the shoreline, and we discovered that they also would take bits of meatloaf sandwich.
