Location  Hemlock Creek Trail Hike

Where:  Umpqua National Forest

I stumbled on this trail, in a manner of speaking, a few days ago while looking closely at a map for a fishing trip to Hemlock Lake. Hemlock Creek Trail is basically a four-mile trail that connects Hemlock Lake down to Lake in the Woods.

We started at Lake in the Woods and hiked up to Hemlock Lake. The trail has been well maintained and took us over a number of bridges and through the grotto-like Hemlock Creek canyon with wonderful vistas of water falls.

Hemlock Lake proved a perfect destination for lunch. We sat in the warm sunshine and watched a couple fishing from a paddleboat. Small trout took insects along the shoreline, and we discovered that they also would take bits of meatloaf sandwich.
