Red-Eared Sliders are Non-native turtles. They have been commonly sold for pets, and thus thoughtlessly released into the wild where they now form a threat to our two native species, the Western Pond Turtle, and the Western Painted Turtle. It is illegal in the State of Oregon to buy, sell, possess or release the Red-Eared Slider. |
