| Date: March 24, 1999 | | Location Imperial Valley Bicycle Tour | | Where: Wiest Lake County Park to Rio Bend RV & Golf Resort | | We had an enjoyable morning cycling the back roads from Wiest Lake County Park to the town of Holtville. Irrigated fields dominate the landscape, so with the absence of any parks or businesses we had to stop at a small country school to use the facilities. We found Holtville to be a charming place and we lucked out with an excellent lunch stop at Ma Lupe's. Our afternoon did not progress so well as we looked for a camping spot in El Centro. The first RV park we checked did not have any acceptable sites, and the second part did not allow tents, so we continued riding west. Desperate in the afternoon heat we stopped at Rio Bend RV & Golf Resort. Surprisingly they welcomed us with open arms, and although no campsites were available, they offered us the opportunity to set up our tent on a nice grassy area between the golf club and the swimming pool and have full use of the facilities. |  | |  | We enjoyed this paradise so much that we arranged a second night, and took a day trip to Calexico. |
