Date: March 10, 2010 | Location Hiking the Ahamacave Trail | Where: Ahakhav Tribal Prserve, Arizona | In our attempt to show Dan & Charlene some of our favorite hikes, we took them to the Ahakhav Tribal Preserve to hike the Ahamacave Trail. Our dogs loved it. They got to run down the trail and chase after Desert Cottontail Rabbits and sniff out new smells.
| | Jeanette, Charlene, & Dan at the trailhead Our last trip here turned out to be a great birding day. But, today the birds were a little scarce, especially all the waterfowl. The Backwater was particularly quite, all the ducks have left. We saw only a few American Coots, and a Pied-bill Grebe.

The signs help to explain the restoration efforts that are being made by the Colorado River Indian Tribes to this riparian area. Again, as last time, we had the trail to ourselves. It's a great place to get some exercise, sunshine, and enjoy some quiet time.
