Richard and Mary Sites took us on a picnic to Lake Del Valle to show us around Del Valle Regional Park. This 5,000 acre park is just a mere 10 miles south of Livermore. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed a picnic and some great bird watching, identifying twenty species of birds. The squirrels kept Buster busy with a game of hide and seek. After the picnic, and a stroll along the lake, we drove to the campgrounds at the south end to scout out the potential for future camping trips. There are 150 sites, some with sewer and water, but none with electricity. We also noticed numerous trailheads, which teased us with hiking opportunities.
