Date: April 21, 2009 | Location Brice Creek Trail Hike | Where: Cottage Grove Ranger District, Umpqua National Forest | The selection of this day to hike was based solely on Chaplain Eddie Harrod's day off. Tuesday was it, and so we made plans and invited others. I selected the Brice Creek Trail in order to be close to Eddie's home in Cottage Grove, as he didn't get off work from Sacred Heart Hospital until 9:00 in the morning.
| | George, Eddie, Jeanette, Melissa, and Michael Friends George Clark and Melissa and Michael Garguilo met Jeanette and I at the new Alfred Tyson Park in Elkton before heading to pick up Eddie. We had fantastic day for weather and Brice Creek was full with spring run off. We parked at the west end of the trail and hiked the first section as far as Brice Creek Falls.
| | some people are very trusting Everyone was surprised at the amount of wild flowers we saw, beginning with Spring Queen, Trillium, Wind Flower, Wood Violet, Sorrel, Fawn Lily, and even a few Lady Slippers. Check the Additional Photos at the bottom of this page.
| | taking photos of the falls We stopped for lunch at the Cedar Creek Campground, before continuing on to the highlight of the trail, Brice Creek Falls. After lots of photos we retraced our steps back to the parking lot for a four-mile day. | | Trillium | | Sorrel | | Fawn Lily |
