This was a very relaxed Sunday morning trip to hike the Tahkenitch Dunes Trail. It was so laid back that arriving at the trailhead we realized we had forgotten lunch! The plan had been to stop on our way at Subway in Reedsport, but we had driven right through Reedsport with out a thought. We had a couple of hours before lunch, so we elected for just a shorter day on the trail.

It was a beautiful sunny day to be hiking. One of the things that caught our attention was the abundance of blooming Coastal Strawberry. We will have to keep this trail in mind a little later when the Strawberrys will be ripe.

We paused at the mouth of Tahkenitch Creek for a break, and luckily Jeanette had squirreled away in her pack some blueberry bread and an apple, which we shared.
