Breakfast of oatmeal and hot tea. On the trail by 8:30. By 10:00 we are at Six Mile Meadow, a beautiful spot with lots of room to camp.

Six Mile Meadow

Then, it's a 3 mile slug up to the Lake Basin. Our method seems to be to stop every 30 minutes for a rest. Stop for lunch from 11:45 to 12:15. By 12:30 we are at the Junction at Horseshoe Lake. Take the Lower Trail around Horseshoe Lake and past Lee Lake to the south-side of Douglas for out campsite (1:30). It threatens to rain, so everyone gets in their tents, so I went fishing from 3:00 to 5:00. Caught 6 brooktrout 7- 8 ½ inches using a wet-line with Spruce Fly and Damsel Fly patterns.

frying trout

To go with the fried trout I fixed instant mashed potatoes, but thinking I needed to add some powdered milk, I mistakenly but in a squirt of Lemonade. It was a wonderful flavor, spicing up the potatoes----I proclaim it a standard recipe.
