We arrived this afternoon, checked on the youth hostel here, then checked into the same motel where we stayed last July on our way to Michael & Corinne's wedding.

Jim had a difficult morning - no go power. He had indigestion and very little sleep last night so today he dragged himself along on will power. We are counting on a full recovery for tomorrow.

In 1987 I ran the Portland Marathon. This trip reminds me of some of the emotions that I experienced then. The beginning was SO EXCITING, eventually reality set in, then the going got tough, right at the end as we were nearing the finish line, the excitement returned.

We are so close to San Diego now that we can count the next stops on one hand!

Two men from San Diego (Dave & Gary) that we met and rode with on the southern Oregon coast have volunteered to meet us for dinner and possibly ride the last 15 miles to the border. Just as we choreographed our meeting with Bunni in Santa Rosa and Ed & Sally in San Francisco, we will be planning our arrival through Pocket Mail correspondence with Dave.

Our maps read about 240 miles to go. Depending on our mood, traffic on bike paths, weather and daylight, I'm guessing 5 days to San Diego.

More tomorrow...
