Today was an uneventful ride from Pismo Beach to Lompoc. Very little fodder for an e-mail message.
We left after breakfast at the "Cowgirl Cafe" and rode two and a half hours in fog that thinned as we progressed. Finally @ 11:00 we were ready to take off our coats, arm & leg warmers.
By 11:30 we were in hazy sunshine and stopped for a roadside picnic.
The "event" of the afternoon was a climb to 960' over Harris Grade and then a quick descent into Lompoc. Harris Grade would have been more notable if Jim hadn't checked the map to find out that I had turned onto the wrong road. Because of his correction we were into town by 2 something.
I'm awarding the Lompoc Tally Ho Motel "Best of Trip" honors - we have recently become experts on budget accommodations, and this place has it all.
We are feeling strong and rested after taking Monday off. Both of us are looking forward to tomorrow's stretch from here to Santa Barbara.
