This morning we continued on into Monterey via an excellent bicycle path. The weather in Monterey was absolutely perfect, and for that matter so was the bakery where we happened to stop. We also stopped at a nice bike store and in front of the store met what we thought was a fellow tourist, but even though he said he was retired and living in Carmel, the sleeping bag and mattress on his bike were probably seeing daily use.
Leaving Monterey, a young man hailed us. We had met him when first coming into town. He was so captivated by our trip that he had waited on the outskirts of town to make sure that we found the bike path.
We continued south on Highway 101 as it wound it's way along the coast, tight against the steep headland, curving in and out of ravines, climbing high above the blue Pacific, before descending down to follow the Big Sur River.
This is where you find us tonight---in Big Sur. Certainly a world of it's own. We arrived this afternoon with 33 other cyclists who are on a supported fund raising ride. For once, our cycling clothes seemed to be right in fashion.
