"I write today from Laytonville. The phone system here is not compatible with Pocket Mail so we will have to send this from some place down the road on our way to Ukiah tomorrow.

It's been hot the last two days with temperatures in the upper 80's by mid afternoon. In the mornings with the temp at 45 we bundle up wearing arm & leg warmers, vest, gloves, windbreaker and helmet liners. As the morning progresses we start peeling off layers. We usually leave before eight and by ten o'clock we're down to short sleeve jerseys. By three or so we stop for the day and select a motel. The novelty of tent camping has worn off with the short days and low temps. Tonight I noticed that the sun was down before six thirty.

All my strong male supporters (there were two, thanks Michael & Mark) will be pleased to know that I have recaptured the "yellow bag". Yesterday I regained the honor, so of course today we had lots of hills, over 3000 feet of climb again."
