Dickens' words best describe our day; it was the worst of times and best of times.
We rode out of Astoria in thick fog which caused us to stop as soon as Seaside where we waited out the fog with hot chai and muffins, and conversation with a fellow cyclist from San Francisco.
A flat tire caused by hitting a chuckhole at Cannon Beach gave us a second stop for wonderful pizza by the slice at Pizza a Feta where they fixed Jeanette a large hot mug of tea with lemon and honey.
The fog and dampness, cold weather and our own colds caused us to change our plan of camping at Nehalem Bay State Park---but provided us with the finest dinner of our entire trip at Gale's Grill & Bar.
Today we're off to Tillamook and a little stretch of 101 inland where we hope to catch some sun.
