Jeanette watching birds from the dunes The Oregon Dunes Overlook Day Use Area is a good jumping off point for some great hiking opportunities. For this hike we started on the Oregon Dunes Overlook Trail, then took off cross-country across the dunes to Tahkenitch Creek, and to the ocean, where we turned south and walked the beach about 2 miles to where Tahkenitch Creek now flows into the ocean.

Buster & Jeanette hiking south on the beach I had been interested in hiking to this north side of Tahkenitch Creek, because on a couple of recent trips on the south side on the creek I had become aware that Tahkenitch Creek has been rapidly working its way south down the beach. It is now probably about 1/2 of a mile further south than what is shown on maps. For those persons who are GPS curious this way point is now N4.79128 W124.17149
