Location Shevlin Park Hike |
Where: Bend, Oregon |
For out second day of adventure, Dan and I decided on hiking at Shevlin Park in Bend. Arriving at the park we found the snow shallow enough that we used boots and gaiters rather than our snowshoes.

Dan at the trailhead From the trailhead we headed out up the west rim through Ponderosa Pine on the Loop Trail. From the rim we had a good view down into the park and Tumalo Creek.

Dan at the upper bridge At the upper bridge we crossed Tumalo Creek and followed the east rim back. Just above the lower bridge we found and interesting ice dam forming as ice flowed down the creek and got caught and jammed.

Dan at the ice dam Hiking here enabled me to check off this hike on my long list of 'to do hikes', and I am looking forward to returning for a summer experience here.
