Three generations of Scotts - Tylor, Michael, and Jim on Autzen Bridge

For this bicycling adventure Jeanette and I joined son Michael and grandson Tylor in Springfield to the ride the Eugene-Springfield bicycle trails. Starting at the Springfield Downtown Depot Park, our route took us through Island Park, along the Willamette, into Alton Baker Park, across the Autzen Bike Bridge, through the University of Oregon and west on 13th Ave. Turning left on Polk Street, we took a break at Robin and Evan's house where we sampled Robin's outstanding fresh homemade sourdough wheat bread with various combinations of butter, honey and cheese.

Evan on Fern Ridge Path

Robin & Evan joined us on their bikes, and starting at Thomas Jefferson Middle School we took the Fern Ridge Path which follows along Amazon Creek west through the Eugene Wetlands. We paused often to read the interpretive signs and observe a variety of wildlife from ducks to nutria.

Jeanette at the Euphoria Chocolate Factory

Returning on our same route we noticed the Euphoria Chocolate Company Factory Store, which instantly became a necessary stop, and Michael and Evan treated their moms to chocolates.

If you're interested in riding in the area, I recommend the Eugene-Springfield Bicycle Map.
