Location  Little Nash Sno-Park Ski

Where:  Willamette National Forest

This started out as a planned three-day ski trip with two nights of overnight accommodations at the Sisters Motor Lodge. We drove through blizzard conditions from Detroit on, only to discover when we arrived at the Santiam Junction that the State Police had closed the pass due to snow avalanches. So, we turned around and stopped to ski at the closest Sno-Park, Little Nash Sno-Park. Here in addition to blowing snow we found we had to break trail through knee-deep snow. We took turns plowing ahead first on the Santiam Airstrip Trail, and then after a lunch break in the car, we broke trail on the Little Nash Trail. A phone call to Belknap Hot Springs for an alternate place to stay resulted in a turn down as they were without electricity. Even a pie and coffee stop at Marion Forks was aborted when upon our arrival they lost their electricity.
