Location  Black Butte Hike

Where:  Deschutes National Forest

I had planned on driving to Detroit to hike to the top of Dome Rock. But arriving at the trailhead I found so much smoke that I decided to drive up and take a look at what they are calling the 'B and B Complex Fire' as the Santiam Pass was now open. Then I further decided to drive on to Black Butte and hike to its summit to get a look from the east side, hoping that it would be a little clearer. Turned out to be a good idea, it was much clearer there, and an added bonus was all the edible wild berries along the trail. Check out the additional photos at the bottom of the page to see some of them.
