| Day 3 began by mean-old-Uncle Jim waking everyone up at 5:30 am to be able to make an early start on the challenging climb up out of the Little Blitzen Gorge. Everyone scuttled around fast and we were ready to head out at 7:00am. |

| climbing up out of Little Blitzen Gorge Our challenge was to climb some 2700 ft up to the Steens Mountain Loop Road, then hike several miles over to the head on Big Indian Gorge to be ready for tomorrow's descent. |
