Date: January 18, 2003 | Location Cascade Head Preserve Hike | Where: Cascade Head | With the forecast of dry warm weather on the coast we choose to hike at The Nature Conservancy's Cascade Head Preserve. It was our first hike of the New Year and although I thought it was too much to hope for, I hoped that I would be able to find some wildflowers to photograph. We had hiked less than a half a mile when I stumbled on Wood Sorrel just beginning to bloom. A little further we found a lone Foxglove still in bloom. Out on the grass headlands I found Coastal Strawberry blooming and also Seaside Dandelion. Our outing, filled with discovery, scenery and exercise was 'great medicine' and Jeanette and I are looking forward to an exciting year of enjoying hiking and wildflowers.
