Flower:Desert Trumpet
Family:Buckwheat
Genus / Species:Eriogonum inflatum
Notes:The name comes from the shape of the inflated stems, which I believe to be a mechanism for collection, storage, and dispersing of moisture. A magnifying glass would be helpful to appreciate the flowers, as they are only about one-sixteenth of an inch. This plant likes very rocky slopes.
