Flower:Cactus, Fishhook Barrel

Genus / Species:Ferocactus wislizenii
Notes:The curved spines were used by native Americans for fishing. It is also know as Compass Cactus because it often leans to the south toward the sun. A third common name is Southwestern Barrel Cactus. The bright yellow fruit can last throught the year if not eaten by wildlife.
