Common Name:Siskin, Pine
Scientific Name:Caruelis pinus
Family:Fringillidae
Area:Elkton, Oregon
Date:December 24, 2011

The striped pattern might suggest a female House Finch at first glance, but the Pine Siskin is smaller, the same size as a Lesser Goldfinch, and has a much thinner bill. Also note the yellow edging on the wings and tail.
