The Greater Roadrunner is a member of the Cuckoo Family. It is a ground bird that seldom flies, and can typically be seen running rapidly across the ground in search of lizards, snakes, an insects. It can be quite expressive with its crest and tail feathers. In the winter it can often be seen fluffing its feathers up on its back to expose the skin to the warmth of the sun as shown in photo #3. |
