Common Name:Woodrat, Bushy-tailed
Scientific Name:Neotoma cinerea
Area:Clear Lake Ridge Preserve, Oregon
Date:August 11, 2001

This is what is commonly called a 'Pack Rat'. Normally I would not include photos of a critter in a cage, but this is the only way you will get to see one of these critters as they are nocturnal and extremely fast. I caught several of these in this live trap while we were caretakers for The Nature Conservancy at Clear Lake Ridge Preserve in a failed attempt to rid our selves of their nightly pestilence.
