Common Name:Squirrel, Golden-mantled Ground
Scientific Name:Spermophilus lateralis
Area:Headwaters of the Metolius River, Oregon

More cases than not people refer to these squirrels as chipmunks. All chipmunks however have stripes accross the face. On the East-side of the Cascades these are the main squirrels to be seen in the campgrounds looking for handouts.
