Notes: | Mildred Kanipe gave Douglas Country her large family ranch with several conditions, two of which were 'No hunting or trapping' and 'No timber shall be cut'. The result is an outstanding preserve filled with trees and wildlife. There are miles of dirt roads and trails to explore the grasslands, oak hills, and timbered ravines. |
Route: | From Oakland, head east on Oak Street (County Road No. 50) three miles to Elkhead Road. Turn left on Elkhead Road and continue for three miles to park entrance at 16513 Elkhead Road. |
