Misc:Prior to damning at the outlet in 1884 and 1890 the lake was a destination of Sockeye Salmon from the Pacific Ocean. Now landlocked salmon, Kokanne, spawn in the lakes tributaries.

Notes:Wallowa Lake, lying at the foot of the Wallowa Mountains in a spectacular alpine setting, is one of the northeastern Oregon's finest scenic and recreational resources. Although a natural lake it is regulated to provide irriagation water for the Wallowa Valley.
